    About Us

Known around the world for sweet onions, Vidalia is full of local flavor – and we don’t just mean on the dinner plate.  Discover Vidalia and the area and see for yourself!  The Vidalia Convention & Visitors Bureau is located within the same building as the Vidalia Onion Museum.  From Highway 280, turn onto Commerce Way, between Southeastern Technical College and the Toombs-Montgomery Chamber of Commerce.  We are the second building on the right.

Our friendly staff will tell you everything you want to know about accommodations, activities, attractions, dining, and shopping.  Also, check our events page for a calendar of local happenings.

Each spring, Vidalia anticipates the harvest of Georgia’s Official State Vegetable, the internationally known, Vidalia Sweet Onion. Since 1978, we have celebrated this special occasion with an array of fun-filled events like the Culinary Extravaganza and Vidalia Onion Pageants, a Carnival, Children’s Parade, Movie Under the Stars, Opening Ceremonies, Street Dance and Fireworks, Recipe Cook-Off and Public Tasting, Kiwanis Onion Run, Saturday Night Concert, Chuck Wagon Cook-Off, and Arts & Crafts that continues on Sunday.

The 1,300-square-foot space is filled with an array of educational exhibits that highlight the sweet onion’s economic, cultural and culinary significance. The museum is open Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. and is just off Highway 280, beside Southeastern Technical College and behind the Toombs-Montgomery Chamber of Commerce.
